Enjoy a stunning picture bursting with color and clarity with the 40-inch Toshiba 40G300U LCD HDTV (40-inch diagonal screen size), featuring a 1080p Full HD resolution that provides twice the pixel resolution of 720p HD models. It also boasts Toshiba’s ClearFrame 120Hz feature, which doubles the video frames from 60 per second to 120 per second to virtually eliminate motion blur–making this a perfect set for watching fast action movies and sports.

Toshiba’s G300U Series HDTV with 1080p high-def resolution and 120Hz ClearFrame capability for eliminating motion blur (see larger image).

The attractive front panel gradation of Toshiba’s Horizon design (see larger image).

ClearFrame 120 doubles the frame rate of standard LCD TV, providing crisp and clear imagery regardless of image motion.

It provides a number of convenient home entertainment options and key picture quality features, including DynaLight dynamic backlight control for deeper black levels and four HDMI digital inputs for simple high quality connection to cable/satellite boxes, DVD players and more. Plus, the HDMI ports feature fast InstaPort switching for quick changes from one source to another.

With the Gaming Mode function, you’ll experience reduced game control delay and improved reaction time–perfect for PC gaming–and the Photo Frame capability with Auto Slide Show enables you to display slideshows of your favorite images when not watching TV programming.

Boasting a slimming tapered bezel and attractive front panel gradation, the new Horizon design creates a more modern, elegant appearance that also adds a subtle luminance to the logo to further its stylish appeal. Other features include MP3 playback via the integrated USB port, a PC input, and a removable stand.

Key Features

  • 1080p HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels)
  • ClearFrame 120Hz screen refresh rate virtually eliminates motion blur, making this HDTV a great choice for fast action movies and sports. Toshiba’s ClearFrame 120Hz system doubles the frame rate of an LCD TV from 60 frames per second to 120 frames per second using superior Motion Vector Frame Interpolation technology.
  • DynaLight Backlight Control utilizes advanced image processing to monitor the brightness of each video frame, and adjust the backlight intensity accordingly. This precision creates seamless transitions with deep blacks for increased detail and depth analysis.
  • Photo Frame capability allows this HDTV to act as both a TV and a digital photo frame. You can showcase your favorite memories as a clear, crisp slide show on the high-resolution television screen–all controlled with just the TV remote.
  • Gaming Mode takes the gaming experience to a new level by reducing game control delay, thus giving the player improved reaction time and a more realistic playing experience. This is great when used with popular gaming consoles, or with PC games using the TVs PC Input.
  • Built-in ATSC/NTSC/QAM digital tuning allows for tuning of standard cable channels as well as off-air digital broadcasts, in addition to digital “cable-in-the-clear” broadcasts.
  • Native Mode restores the size of the picture by the 3-5 percent that is generally lost during the normal over-scanning that occurs on traditional sets.
  • Cinema Mode 24 fps (3:2 Pulldown): This HDTV performs 3:2 pulldown detection and reversal, too–a handy feature for watching progressive-scan movie programs in their native 24-frame format. To adapt 24 frames-per-second movies to 30 fps video, frames in the original movie must be duplicated; 3:2 pulldown digitally corrects this duplication by removing the redundant information to display a frame-accurate picture.
  • Color Temperature Control enables you to adjust white balance to achieve the best television picture possible in any viewing environment, or simply adjust the picture to suit your personal tastes. The “Warm” setting delivers a redder image that is ideal for display in a dimly lit room, while “Medium” and “Cool” provide a progressively bluer image for the best picture as room light levels are increased.
  • Three TheaterWide modes are ideal for displaying HDTV signals as well as enhanced for widescreen television DVDs.
    • TheaterWide 1: Letterboxed image is digitally expanded 33 percent horizontally and vertically. Useful for reproducing Academy Standard (1.85:1) formatted software.
    • TheaterWide 2: Letterboxed image is expanded 33 percent horizontally and 42 percent vertically. Particularly of use when viewing narrow letterboxed images originally filmed in Panavision or CinemaScope.
    • TheaterWide 3: Letterboxed image is expanded 33 percent horizontally and 24 percent vertically. Can be utilized when displaying letterboxed images that incorporate narrow bands at the top and bottom of the picture.

  • MP3 audio and JPEG image playback via USB port on the side.
  • REGZA-LINK (HDMI-CEC) allows peripheral AV devices such as a DVD player to be controlled by the remote control.
  • InstaPort fast HDMI switching between A/V components: Typically, when you switch HDMI inputs, there can be a five or six second delay. With InstaPort, as soon as you select an HDMI source, it will connect in a fraction of the time.
  • Ethernet port for connecting to wired home network.
  • Bottom-mounted invisible speakers integrated into stylish Horizon bezel design (20 Watts total power; 10W + 10W).
  • Channel Browser allows you to easily scan through the last 32 channels you have viewed, with screen images for the last five channels displayed, by channel, by favorites, and by input, at the touch of a button.
  • Channel Labeling allows you to put station call letters on the screen along with the station numbers, so you always know what channel you’re watching
  • Input labeling enables you to name the individual inputs to denote usage, such as “DVD Player” (instead of having them display as just “HDMI 1″ and “HDMI 2″).
  • Removable stand for wall mounting (200mm x 200mm VESA mounting pattern)
  • Tri-lingual onscreen menu (English, French, Spanish)
  • Warranty: 1-year limited warranty on parts and labor

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

HDTV Size chart With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience.

If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get.

Resolution+ uses complex image correction to enhance the detail of each image, making everything feel like HD.

Customer Review

Going from a Sony tube T.V. to this Toshiba LCD has been a joyous experience. I had planned to get at least a 37 inch LCD screen, but the 32 inch was the right price and it does not take up much space in our living room. For a 32 inch, 720p is perfect. The screen is just beautiful. We don’t watch much sports so we don’t need a plasma. The sound is good, which surprised me. DVDs look good. HD content from Apple TV looks superb. I admit that the small size does not make this a theater experience, but my wife and I were not looking for such a thing. If you want to sit back and just watch a nice flat screen TV, this is it. I see no need for calibration. The standard setting works perfectly in my room. Every time I tried adjusting the TV, I would go back to the standard setting, where it now remains. I smile when I think about all the money I saved by not buying anything bigger and more expensive. Thank you Toshiba for providing a product that meets my needs.

Great TV!!! Its so wonderful!! - Remi -
This TV is wonderful!! It feel like we are at the cinema. All I need is some popcorn. lol. Overall, for the price, the TV is excellent! I recommend buying this TV for your bedroom or living room.

Toshiba 37E200U 37-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV (Black Gloss) Specifications

Enjoy a stunning picture bursting with color and clarity with the 37-inch Toshiba 37E200U LCD HDTV (37.6-inch diagonal screen size), featuring a 1080p Full HD resolution that provides twice the pixel resolution of 720p HD models.

Toshiba’s E200U Series HDTV with 1080p high-def resolution (see larger image).

The attractive front panel gradation of Toshiba’s Horizon design (see larger image).

DynaLight automatically adjusts the backlight intensity based on the image content.

  • 60Hz screen refresh rate
  • CineSpeed LCD panel with a fast response speed necessary for cleaner high-action home theater images. A wide viewing angle ensures that you’ll have the best seat in the house.

Customer Review

Bought this unit primarily for a computer monitor. I am very pleased with the size and clarity from 10 feet away. I like watching and reading news items on the pc and this unit makes it most pleasant with tri-focal glasses. I had a 15 inch tube monitor and found my eyes tiring after a short time. The 37 inch size makes viewing very comfortable.

I bought this at a store after reading all the Amazon reviews on various monitor/tv units. It has so many inputs that were new to me that I felt that telling the seller what I needed it for was the only way to get my money worth.

This is what I wanted in a unit:
A PC monitor
Connect my Roku ( Netflix ) HD wireless converter
Tv channel viewing
Connect my analog vcr
get rid of my external pc speakers

These desires were met and by buying a wireless keyboard and mouse I now have the pc box under the TV and out of sight.

The monitor has a matte finish and does not reflect glare from my windows during the day. This might be the feature I most appreciate.

Set-up was very easy.

I looked at the unit from 30 feet away at an angle and was able to see the picture just fine. What angle I look at in my living room is not an issue. This is an LCD screen.

It has 1080 resolution and Netflix delivers at 780 so I can upgrade my Roku and still be pleased with my unit.

It has 5 settings for picture warmth ( color/hue/gamma/etc ). 4 of these settings are factory set and non-changeable and the 5th for personal preference.

I use an outdoor digital antenna and as I change channels the Toshiba indicates the strength of the signal. The unit does not have an antenna built in. You must use a cable style antenna or cable service.

My analog vcr is now useless for recording without a digital converter box and can’t record shows without a converter. Also my previously recorded vcr tapes come on the TV in 480 resolution.

It will accept a USB flash device. If you have mp3 or jpg files or want to view the pictures from your camera ( camera cable required with rgb or usb external connection ) you can have a slide show.

The HDMI inputs look very similar to a usb connection but the shape is different. All the newer pc’s and other devices are coming with this commection. It replaces the s-cable style connector it does not accept s-cable.

I had to buy an HDI cable ( connect my Roku ), a stereo speaker cable ( from the pc headphones to the monitor ) with both ends male, and a VGA cable ( computer ) in addition to the unit itself. You can get these from Amazon.

It will not play avi files from a usb flash unit. You need the computer for that viewing.

Loved it - Juan P. Tagaban - San Diego
I really loved the Toshiba LCD TV. Very good delivery although it was not by traditional companies such as UPS or FedEX.

LOVE THIS TV LIKE A SON!!! - SteveB -
I just purchased this TV to replace my Samsung 27″ tube HDTV which was an absolute beast (147 lbs!). This TV is WONDERFUL! It’s the 3rd Toshiba LCD in my house (also have a 32″ in my bedroom and a 19″ in the home office). The picture is crystal clear with rich, bright, vibrant colors. I watch a lot of sports and play video games on this TV and it performs great for both. There aren’t noticeable tracers when watching fast action. I wish it had a regular a/v sound output (red & white), but it only offers a digital audio output which doesn’t work w/ my out-dated receiver (not the TV’s fault). I compared this side-by-side to LG’s similarly priced 37″ model and it blew the LG away. The picture was brighter, clearer, and lost less quality at an angle. I’ve noticed some reviews that are critical of the TV’s sound, but I’m not having any issues with it. I’m sure it doesn’t compare to the sound quality of a home theatre system, but it isn’t any worse than any other TV I’ve owned. If you’re looking to get the most bang for your buck on a moderately priced lcd TV, this is the one.

Customer Review

Pros:
-Great picture
-Great viewing angle (practically 180)
-True Wide screen (no more stupid bars!)
-Clear QAM channels work great (nix your set-top box!)
-Lots of input options
-Toshiba Customer service reputation
-Good documentation
-Light weight (30 pounds)
-Decent sound (you will still want good speakers though)
-Very Nice looking
-Good for Internet TV & HTPC use
-Remote glows in the dark
-Allows 1920×1080 computer resolution if you want with HDMI cable
-Screen is virtually glare-free
-Nice Picture setting presets & customizable too.
-Nice buttons on remote for PC use (”PIC Size” button is key for 16:9!)
-Can hook multiple PC’s to it and flip monitor inputs instantly (no kvm switch needed! 5 PC’s could be connected.)
-Same computer can be input multiple times for different desktops (haven’t tried this yet though.)

Cons:
-Doesn’t automatically turn off with PC (keep remote near by)
-No difference in 720p & 1080p (see below)
-PC Text looks better in 1360×768 (768p) than in 1920×1080 (1080p)
-Too big for some low quality Internet Video
-Shows finger prints
-Connecting PC with S-video was almost unusable. Looks terrible.
-Half inch border all the way around in default 1080p or 765p mode. Use 768p with a PC if you can.
-Remote buttons are a little stiff and small. Hard to navigate if you have long nails.
-Only 1 custom preset available for picture settings.
-No DVI connection

Generally I think this is a fantastic TV and monitor. I use it as my primary HTPC monitor with Windows 7 media center and a simple indoor TV antennae. I really enjoyed recording the Olympics in HD and playing back stop-motion ice skating. My roommate has the same TV and is using Comcast clear QAM with no set-top box and no computer. He gets all the digital tv channels.

I surf the Internet and watch a lot of Internet TV and it works great for this too. (Hint: turn down the backlight level for better text reading with less eye strain. Use the “Sports” mode for Internet TV which tends to be very dark.)

All the various inputs allow many advantages over a regular monitor (see pros above.) I can read text clearly from up to 15 feet away. (Great for lounging in bed or on the couch.) The only disadvantage of using the HDTV this way is the limited variety of resolutions.

I saw no difference in quality with HDMI or VGA cable as some other people said. I am not sure what the story is with the S-video PC input. It looked really terrible when I hooked up my laptop. However it looks great with a VGA cable. I will report back if other devices such as DVD players have this problem.

Watching Internet video is good but sometimes not great on a 32 inch. You really wouldn’t want a screen any bigger than this because Websites save space by converting the videos to very low quality. I have opened some Youtube videos that I actually could not see. My 14″ laptop handled them better.

As you can see from the list above my Cons are no biggy: I find I need to switch the picture modes a lot when going from Recorded TV to text reading to Internet TV, so I wish there were more customized presets allowed in order to tweak them.

The only big thing I regret is that some reviews told me I might need 1080p if I were using this TV as a monitor. It actually looks worse in 1920×1080 and the the text is harder to read (even zoomed.) In TV mode you will not see a difference with 1080p unless you use a Blue Ray DVD player and sit 2 or 3 feet away on a 32″ screen. I could have saved 0 by getting a 720p Samsung. However I am still very happy with this and feel I got a top of the line product for a steal.

I hope I’ve provided some good information that is hard to find for people looking for large monitors.

*Note: to get Clear QAM channels in Windows Media Center without a cable card or set-top box you need a TV card known to receive them. For example: Avertv MTVHDDUWB HD Duet (White Box) & Here: Hauppauge 1229 WinTV-HVR-2250 White Box for System Builders Dual Hybrid PCI-E TV Tuner Board

Customer Review

Bought it as an upgrade from my 22″ dual monitor system. At first I set this thing up as primary and one of my 22″ as secondary, but I ended up always just using this 32″ TV and keeping the other monitor off.

The picture quality at 1080p is not quite as good as my 22″ monitors were at 1680×1050, some images/colors look a little “jpeg”-ish for some reason. After playing with the inputs and re-seating the HDMI cable it seems to be just about perfect, but not quite. For all I know, the problem is with my HDMI-DVI cable, it’s not exactly the highest-quality stuff.

Overall this thing is AWESOME for just about anything: watching videos, Hulu, games (Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Dead Space, etc.), documents (easily 2 full-page side-by-side), web browsing/research (once again, 2 side-by-side), and video-editing. But those intending to use it for more nit-picky stuff like high quality photo editing who need very correct color representation may want to consider something of higher quality (maybe also higher quality HDMI cable…). Average/basic photoshop users should be just fine with this though.

Cant beat it for the price - Mark J. Turner -
We have had this unit for about 7 months now, and i wish i had bought 2 as it is now unavailable. For a 32″ full 1080p TV, I dont think you can beat it. The game mode works flawlessly, and a nice plus for my household, it interfaces nicely with our HD-DVD players. The sound is actually better than expected for a unit of this size, and the 3 HDMI ports is a huge plus. If you can find one, buy one!

Paid 0 for this TV and 18 months later POOF it completely stopped working. It wouldn’t turn on. We had the TV hooked up to a surge protector and had taken all precautions. Took it to a Toshiba repair service and they said the main board was defective. Cost of repair 0!!! Called Toshiba to see if they could do anything to help us but since the TV was only under warranty for 12 months they said tough luck. We will never buy another Toshiba product again. Other features include MP3 playback via the integrated USB port, a PC input, and a removable stand.

Key Features

  • 1080p HD resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels)
  • 60Hz screen refresh rate
  • CineSpeed LCD panel with a fast response speed necessary for cleaner high-action home theater images. A wide viewing angle ensures that you’ll have the best seat in the house.

  • Minimum size = Viewing distance/3
  • Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

Customer Review

I was a little leery of ordering this new 2010 model that didn’t yet have full specifications or other product information available. If it was any brand other than Toshiba, which I’ve had great experiences with, I would have waited or moved to a different product.

Anyway, I’m glad I did order this model 32E200U TV. Ordered from Amazon for a great price, it arrive in three days, in perfect packaging and brought right to my door by my friendly UPS driver. Unpacking and “assembly” was a snap - there really isn’t much to do other than attach the stand, connect the cables, install the remote batteries, and turn it on. It asked a few simple set-up questions, scanned all my cable channels (finding some I didn’t know I had access to), and was ready to go. The remote is super clear and simple to use, everything works, and the picture is great. Black is truely black, color is well balanaced, the image is bright, people and their clothes are their correct colors, and the sound is really quite good. We have a standard 480i cable connection, a 1080i upconverted DVD, laptop streaming NexFlix, and bluray. All work perfectly and switching between inputs is seemless. It has plenty of HDMI inputs (4) in addition to analog, digital, and cable.

Can’t say much else, other that to strongly recommend this product. Buy it, you’ll like everything about it.
