Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

I bought this a month ago. Amazon had it in stock and even with the standard shipment, I would have received within 2 days if it is not for UPS (its failing services). I ordered on Wednesday midnight. UPS attempted to deliver on Friday, I was not home. UPS does not have pick up services on Saturdays anymore!!!.

LED is the driving force for me to buy this. I look around Samsung, Sharp. etc. LG price came out ahead of others at that time. I paid this for 9. Amazon price went down about -0 within a week after I bought it. FYI-Amazon has no price adjustment policy. Which is okay that their prices are pretty reasonable and lower than anywhere else.

It is easy to set up. Though LG can still improve the instructions booklet to make it clearer by not putting a lot of models together, marks the component pictures clearly. Only the cable remote works. LG remote cannot be used to change channels. I contacted the LG customer services and they told me if I have a cable services, LG TV remote will not work to change channels. TV remote works only for changing volume and playing the games that came with the TV. I did not set up Wii yet. But I do not foresee any problem. While setting up, I was not able to filter/block certain channels, ie. manual set up did not work to exclude channels (pay per view, and other channels that I do not like to see it at all). LG customer services told me I would not be able to that. This is the only draw back.

This TV does not get very warm/hot like LCD TV. I have it on for the whole morning/night like (6 hours or more straight) and put my hand near the screen, I did not feel any heat. LED helps. I did not change any settings, the default setting works for me. Pictures is sharp and good enough for me. Color is great. Although the sound quality is not the best. It is not bad for watching TV, news and sports. LG came with eight games: Jump (jump rope), Hole in one (golf), Whack a mole, Sudoku, Cooking Burgers, Saving Crystal, Invader (to drive the aliens away and to explode UFO to beat all the aliens on the screen), and Urgent.

This is a replacement to my last one, Akai LCD, LCT2785TA. Akai LCD get very very hot after awhile (in 15 minutes). Because of the power pole being knocked down nearby, Akai went death. Not totally death though. I still can use it. The TV comes on, but once you turn off you cannot turn it back on right away (or in a few hours). I think it has to do with the temperature. It is strange that I can still use Akai if I keep it unplugged all the time and only plug in when I want to use it. Once finish, unplug it. Then I can use the Akai LCD TV again!

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

I bought this a month ago. Amazon had it in stock and even with the standard shipment, I would have received within 2 days if it is not for UPS (its failing services). I ordered on Wednesday midnight. UPS attempted to deliver on Friday, I was not home. UPS does not have pick up services on Saturdays anymore!!!.

LED is the driving force for me to buy this. I look around Samsung, Sharp. etc. LG price came out ahead of others at that time. I paid this for 9. Amazon price went down about -0 within a week after I bought it. FYI-Amazon has no price adjustment policy. Which is okay that their prices are pretty reasonable and lower than anywhere else.

It is easy to set up. Though LG can still improve the instructions booklet to make it clearer by not putting a lot of models together, marks the component pictures clearly. Only the cable remote works. LG remote cannot be used to change channels. I contacted the LG customer services and they told me if I have a cable services, LG TV remote will not work to change channels. TV remote works only for changing volume and playing the games that came with the TV. I did not set up Wii yet. But I do not foresee any problem. While setting up, I was not able to filter/block certain channels, ie. manual set up did not work to exclude channels (pay per view, and other channels that I do not like to see it at all). LG customer services told me I would not be able to that. This is the only draw back.

This TV does not get very warm/hot like LCD TV. I have it on for the whole morning/night like (6 hours or more straight) and put my hand near the screen, I did not feel any heat. LED helps. I did not change any settings, the default setting works for me. Pictures is sharp and good enough for me. Color is great. Although the sound quality is not the best. It is not bad for watching TV, news and sports. LG came with eight games: Jump (jump rope), Hole in one (golf), Whack a mole, Sudoku, Cooking Burgers, Saving Crystal, Invader (to drive the aliens away and to explode UFO to beat all the aliens on the screen), and Urgent.

This is a replacement to my last one, Akai LCD, LCT2785TA. Akai LCD get very very hot after awhile (in 15 minutes). Because of the power pole being knocked down nearby, Akai went death. Not totally death though. I still can use it. The TV comes on, but once you turn off you cannot turn it back on right away (or in a few hours). I think it has to do with the temperature. It is strange that I can still use Akai if I keep it unplugged all the time and only plug in when I want to use it. Once finish, unplug it. Then I can use the Akai LCD TV again!

This TV is everything it stated and more. It is on a wall in a condo unit with 10′ of solid glass floor to ceiling and the light was a very important factor. The auto contrast is great because the lighting changes from hour to hour. It is never an issue during the day or night. A great product and one which I would highly recommend.

According to LG’s website, to be wi-fi ready, this unit needs a 0.00 “Wireless media kit”, which the unit does NOT come with. Be very careful and ask questions if these are features you are buying this unit for. You may get it delivered and find you have to spend more to have it do what it is advertised to do. I am waiting for my “local” electronics store to get these in stock so I can actually see one and find out if LG is going to add this before shipping to its outlets.
