Bought it as an upgrade from my 22″ dual monitor system. At first I set this thing up as primary and one of my 22″ as secondary, but I ended up always just using this 32″ TV and keeping the other monitor off.

The picture quality at 1080p is not quite as good as my 22″ monitors were at 1680×1050, some images/colors look a little “jpeg”-ish for some reason. After playing with the inputs and re-seating the HDMI cable it seems to be just about perfect, but not quite. For all I know, the problem is with my HDMI-DVI cable, it’s not exactly the highest-quality stuff.

Overall this thing is AWESOME for just about anything: watching videos, Hulu, games (Mass Effect 2, Dragon Age, Dead Space, etc.), documents (easily 2 full-page side-by-side), web browsing/research (once again, 2 side-by-side), and video-editing. But those intending to use it for more nit-picky stuff like high quality photo editing who need very correct color representation may want to consider something of higher quality (maybe also higher quality HDMI cable…). Average/basic photoshop users should be just fine with this though.

We have had this unit for about 7 months now, and i wish i had bought 2 as it is now unavailable. For a 32″ full 1080p TV, I dont think you can beat it. The game mode works flawlessly, and a nice plus for my household, it interfaces nicely with our HD-DVD players. The sound is actually better than expected for a unit of this size, and the 3 HDMI ports is a huge plus. If you can find one, buy one!

If Philips paid more attention to the firmware on this TV, it would be a must buy. The extra picture enhancement features they offer on this TV are a big fat joke. Nearly every corrective or enhancing option causes skin tones to become red. The picture setup assistant lets you choose the picture much like the optometrist determines your prescription, but the end result is always horrible. You’re better off googling the optimal settings for picture quality. The only “extra” feature I use is the 120hz option, which makes movement seem very life-like.

When you fiddle with the settings enough to get a good picture, it actually does a very good job. Colors are vibrant and everything is very sharp in HD. However, I run into two consistent issues, the black levels are not great and there is a very slight delay in the signal reaching the TV. The first issue wasn’t such a huge deal to me because my last TV wasn’t really that great with black levels either. The second issue isn’t an issue unless you play video games, which I do. The delay is a problem in rhythm games where timing must be precise. Fortunately most games have options to compensate for this, and most games you don’t even notice the delay, but it’s something to be aware of. On the other hand, first person shooter games don’t suffer too badly.

Not much to say about the sound as I don’t use the internal speakers. They’re not mind blowing, but not bad either. The most irritating part about sound on this TV is the fact that the mute button is disabled if you use the headphone jack for your speakers.

A couple miscellaneous notes: the info button on the remote is pathetic. Again, if Philips invested more in the software this could be a great TV. My tiny 22″ LG TV provides more information about a TV program (like the start and end times, progress of the program, etc.) than this 32″ TV does. I also upgraded my firmware as soon as I unpacked the TV. I am using 1.08 I believe.

I’m still satisfied with this TV because I didn’t have to pay tax or shipping, but you might not be if you’re really picky about your TVs.

I thought of buying Samsung 32″ 120Hz TV. But considering the price, I decided to try this one. I thought, in the worst case, I could have returned it (With my past experience, I have full faith on Amazon).

My only complain with this TV is, I could not figure it out, using it as a computer monitor. I tried with a VGA to HDMI cable but it didn’t work. My computer doesn’t have any DVI or HDMI port, only VGA output.

I am impressed with the picture quality. It is so sharp and vivid that there is no doubt that buying this TV was a very good decision. Sound quality is ok.

Pros:

Cons:
*It has 4 HDMI inputs but doesn’t have any VGA/PC input. Though I had a VGA to VGA cable but I had to buy a VGA to HDMI cable, but it didn’t work.

* It doesn’t have any optical digital audio output. It has coaxial digital audio out.

This was my first HDTV so I went a little crazy comparing all the models out there. It’s for my bedroom so I knew I wanted a set around 32”. This TV is PERFECT! When I bought this at a local store they had all the 32” sets side by side and this one blew them away. The blacks are black, the colors are vivid and the picture is SHARP. I have it hooked up to cable (720p), a blue ray player (1080p), and a Wii; they all look amazing. The sound with the bluray player is also very impressive for in TV speakers. I’m definitely going to look at other Sony Bravia products for my next TV. I now want a 50” for the living room so if you have suggestions let me know

I read and read reviews of different brands of tvs before I settled on this one.

It is a great tv–and the price makes it even better.

Did have difficulty understanding how to attach the tv to the stand before I could hook it up. The User Guide starts with the stand already being attached and it is not intuitive how the stand is attached! So after a phone call to the 800 number, the rest was easy.

The picture, sound, etc is wonderful. Definitely recommend this tv.

My use case:
* I was looking for a TV that I would primarily use as a PC monitor switching to watch antenna TV once in a while

Pros:
* Delivery was excellent (Amazon uses a 3rd party freight company)
* Excellent viewing angle
* Matte screen prevents from glare
* Price is one of the lowest in its category

Cons:
* TV tuning. Switching from channel to channel is slow. It takes between 3 and 10 seconds, which feels very slow. -1/2 star
* Menu user interface is old schoold. It’s hard to navigate around, not intuitive (Even though I am considering myself a technically proficient person). Don’t get me wrong. There’re lots of configurable options to adjust picture, etc. But when you compare interface to a TV like Sony Bravo… -1/2 star
* No PiP
* Not well suitable as PC monitor. -1 star
- VGA input only accepts a defined set of resolutions up to 1280*1024. 1600*1200 is rescaled to fit the screen, so it’s not useful. TV refuses to display any non-supported PC resolution. VGA does not take HD resolution of 1920*1080 (many other TVs do!)
- I had no luck connecting TV to PC with HDMI cable. I bought a brand new ATI video card with HDMI output, connected with a cable. Per pixel sharpness was horrible not suiting for reading text on websites. I had to switch back to VGA cable. It could be a problem my specific setup though, but I tried every possible signal adjustment…

I definitely recommend this TV to anyone looking to upgrade to 1080p in a small affordable package. I mainly use this to play xbox 360 games which look unbeleivably better in 1080p than 480fuzz. All this throught a component cable too; someone told me at circuit city that you couldn’t get 1080p through component, but Microsoft’s website said you could, and I am viewing xbox games in 1080p…so…it always pays to get a 2nd opinion. 5 inputs, with two hdmi, gives you a bunch of options, and for 800 bucks, this tv is a very good bargain. I will be in the market for a 52 aquos for the living room very soon. A Sony or Samsung will give you a nice picture too, but Sharp was cheaper, and as much as i love the 1080p pic versus the SD, i couldn’t tell that any brand was superior to the other. So price and inputs were the big one for me. This tv is small; you’ll want to be no more than 8 feet away, but it is perfect for a gaming tv or a bedroom tv. 1080i comcast cable is extremely bright and vivid over the 480i standard cable. What are you waiting for??

I researched and contemplated buying an HDTV for years before finally buying this one. It has a spectacular picture that can be viewed from just about any angle. I don’t use high-tech stuff so I can’t address any of that, but I’m very happy with the picture and sound. The “touch of red” is very subtle and I don’t even notice it unless I look for it. It was also very easy to set-up (did it myself).
