This set had all the features I wanted. I needed to replace my old 27inch JVC CRT TV with a 32inch LCD. Aside from being a bit wider, it occupies about the same amount of space. Samsung wasn’t the first brand I looked at but after reading great reviews on picture quality and reliability I went with them. This set has 3 HDMI inputs, VGA input, component, as well as composite. The next model up provides another composite video input on the side and claims to have a better picture. There is no s-video input. The nicest feature is the analog audio output - plain vanilla left and right. I don’t have any plans to add a digital 5.1 digital THX certified sound system in my bedroom. I have a pair of bookshelf speakers and a low-end stereo receiver. While the set has digital audio out, I just needed slightly better sound which this provided easily.

The HD resolution does not disappoint. The colors are vivid and natural. The first issue I had was that there didn’t seem to be enough contrast and the blacks weren’t that black. I was wondering if I should have gone one model higher since the picture looked a little washed out. I tried the backlight, brightness, and contrast settings but was still feeling a little unsatisfied. Fear not! I found the ‘Advanced Settings’ and tweaked the picture to total perfection.

The next gotcha comes from the cable company. To view a cablebox with HDMI outputs you need a ’special’ tuner. And I was unable to view any of the channels without a box on my old JVC after we switched to digital television. The cable company requires another type of ’special’ tuner to view unscrambled channels directly, which is required if I want to take advantage of the on-timers to wake up to the news in the morning. I selected automatic channel setup on the Samsung and it took care of everything - proving it to be slightly smarter than I am. The HDMI input worked and it discovered channels which I can access without a box which I never knew I had. Very impressive. It found analog, digital, and alternate programming channels then began filling in the channel names as they became available. Another nice feature was the on-timer which I could set to only come on during weekdays.

There are subtle nice features which I appreciate as well. The message for ‘No Signal’ moves around the screen so it doesn’t cause screen burn-in. It remembers the picture size for channels, even when going through the HDMI input. And there are two zoom and pan modes plus stretching and filling options switch between all the available picture formats. You still need to watch for screen burn-in according to the manual so fill the screen with the picture whenever possible.

Watching a full 1080i animated feature on this set was the next best thing to 3D. I thought the characters were going to jump out of the screen. The reverse is true as well. If you’re still watching old VHS tapes on this set you will see what you’ve been missing i.e. you can never go home again.

My wife and I bought two Sony Bravia HDTVs through Amazon. We were very unimpressed and disappointed, and sent both back. I kept hearing about how” Samsung blows Sony away, including from a buddy at work (who’s girlfriend bought one and raves about it). After reading reviews online, we bought two of the 32″ Samsungs. We hooked them up yesterday (I should say after years of Direct TV, we just switched to Veriozon FIOS, which is FAR superior).

I had to post this 24 hours later because I am BLOWN AWAY with the quality of these units, and the resulting smooth as ice picture quality.

Pros: 1. Set up was incredibly easy. The directions are great, to include setting up the remotes. Simply a snap.
2. The picture is the best I have ever seen anywhere. I watching ESPN HD right now, and I joked with my wife that I don’t remember seeing games in person looking this clear and crisp. WOW!
3. The sound is fantastic.
4. To expand on above, the TV set up with the universal remote that comes with the HD Set Top Box from Verizon FIOS, merged like peanut butter and jelly. No problems at all.

I cannot rate this any higher.

Cons: NONE period. I love everything about these. Samsung, you have a new customer.

after months of research, I settled on this TV because I knew Amazon would back me 100%. The shipping was timely, and the tv arrived in perfect condition. The set up was average and my family was enjoying their favorite shows in no time. The sound is great and the picture quality very good. There are several settings to choose from. My only complaint is that it stretches the picture sideways a bit but with all the other pros, not many grumbles have ensued.

my name is THADDEUS i live in the caribean on the island of ST.KITTS. it took me 4 months of readin reviews & comparing with other brands. the reason for this is because where i live we don’t have best buy, circuit city, walmart etc……where u can go in & see the actual tv, & get some sone to explain the spec to you. thus made me read & read & read reviews. i finally made up my mind & purchase the ” SONY KDL 32S300″, not because i have other sony products but because of good customer reviews.

THE LOOKS-: beautiful right out of the box, with a neat shape & a black finish. it doesnt have too mush inches on the sides & the table top stand give it s square look all around.other brands have a square shape but an oval table stand, which kinda kill the design.

THE WEIGHT-: its not too heavy, & its not too light. the weight is just managable with a nice balance feel to it.

THE CONTROL-: the control has a precision feel with the right button spacing, which wont have ur finger tied up. the “HOME BUTTON” is very fun to use, also the OPTION, WIDE, & INPUT button give u a short cut to PICTURE MODE, SOUNDS & EXTERNAL INPUTS with have to directly going to settings.

THE SET UP-: the set up was easy for me because it is similar to the ps3 & PSP XMB……..”XROSS MEDIA BAR”. if u have either systems it should be an easy set up. if u dont it should still be an easy set up.

this is the setting i use & get super excellent picture…even with standard cable.

MOVIES:
well im impressed with the clear, bright colours, the clean crips quality. the sound did a great job for just 2 front speakers & to consider its a 32″ tv. you have to see for your self……

MUSIC:
i listen to rap, r&b, dancehall, pop, rock and ive found that no matter what type or genre i listen to i got good sound quality. the vocals was clean, the bass was boomin enough and the over-all experince is great.

GAMES:
i have a ps3 and i have it hooked up using the sony hdmi cable. the one that comes with the usb cable.

motor storm: ive played dust devil, mud pool, coyote ridge and my favourite tenderizer. the mud looks real as real can be . u can see every grass & every srub.

unchared- drakes fortune: the jungle looks lush, the water looks stunning & the level where eddy chases drake in the jeep is beautiful, the light seemin dowm in the trees is jaw-dropin

devil may cry 4: watchin nero use his devil bringer in play never look so good. mission 7 is what i played & the lighting is awesome. when using dante have him do the million stab combo…that is eye candy

ridge racer 7: this game is fast & i never see any blur….ive played shadow caves & lost ruins……..as expected the garss is green, the dark in the tunnels is fabulous.

resistance fall of man: when u have the bulleyes its fun to see the bullets fly across the screen. when u throw a grenade the effect is just staggerin…every particle u can see them like u were in the game

NOTES:
ridge racer is a full 1080p game

the setting does aply to all inputs. you will have to set all individual settin to each input…ie video, component 1&2 etc

its best to set the back light to min. setting it to high will make the picture too bright and generate too much heat. also the tv will burn more electricity. if u go too close the tv when the backlight is on high u can feel the heat on your skin.

the volume has a neat bar when you increase or decrease the volume. other brands has huge bars when you increase or decrease

if electricty goes while watchin the tv, when it somes back the tv will automatically comes on. note a good idea, because if u have to go work & you are @ WORK when electricty comes back the tv will be on all that time

u can name your inputs…instead of video 1,2,3 u can give them names like ps3, dvd player etc

CLOSING:
in closin i gave ths tv the rigorous test. i threw everything i thought of at ths tv & all i got was stunnin picture & excellent sound.i just cant stop watchin it……….thats my only prob.

I have this in my bedroom. In retrospect, I wish I had waited because prices have come down since my purchase about a year ago or less, but that’s the nature of technology. I am fully satisfied except for one minor complaint: the TV on timer (as an alarm for example) only allows you to choose channels to turn on to, instead of input devices (such as my TiVo). This is lame! Otherwise, it is really good and I have no complaints.

Which Size HDTV is Right for My Room?

With standard-definition TVs, the rule used to be that viewers would feel comfortable watching a set from a distance of 3 to 6 times the screen size in inches. With HDTV, the resolution is so much better that you can sit closer to a larger TV without noticing the pixels. So with HDTVs, the rule tends to be you can sit anywhere from 1.5 to 3 times the screen size (in inches) for the best experience. If you know the size of the room you have already, where you want to sit, and where your new HDTV should go once you get it, you can figure out the size HDTV you should get. Minimum size = Viewing distance/3 Maximum size=Viewing distance/1.5

I recently purchased the Panasonic 32″ HDTV. I had a problem setting up the TV, with a blocky image, fading colors, and downright poor image quality. I am not especially technically minded, but neither am I a novice, and my problem was with a manual that is not very thorough in its explanations beyond the basics. However, I called the support people and they were polite, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful. Within 5 minutes the technician had identified the problem and told me how to correct it. The results: The best image I have seen on this level of TV. This is my third HDTV and of course other family members and friends own HDTV. This is the best picture I have seen from among them. Other reviewers have commented on poor sound quality. That is not my experience. I don’t know what they were expecting, but for this type of TV the sound is quite good and it is also very adjustable. Although this TV doesn’t offer the most extensive adjustments that the most demanding techies might prefer, there are actually numerous adjustments for sound, picture, inputs, and outputs. You should be able to achieve the exact image you seek. Another thing I like about this set is the backlighting. The room my TV is located in is very bright, with a lot of windows and glass doors. The picture quality is very high even during the brightest periods of the day. A long story shortened: This is an excellent TV that outperforms most others, even those costing much more. I highly recommend the TV, the service, and of course, how well and quickly Amazon got the product to to me.

Panasonic Set Excellent - texmarie - Arlington, TX USA
This is our first LCD HDTV television. We really like this set, no problems. The picture quality, color, and sound are excellent. We purchased the same 32 inch size as our previous set but did not notice that even though the width is slightly larger than the other set, the height of the screen is much shorter. Be aware of the set height when you purchase any of the LCD sets. If we had realized this we would have purchased a bigger set. Because we were looking uncomfortably down on the screen we placed the set on a large wood box on our cabinet shelf in order to raise it to normal viewing height–6 inches higher. Of course, if you can mount this set on the wall, there would be no problem.

Good as a PC monitor, except for blurry colored text - Seth -
Pros:
1. Menu performance is snappy, no lag when navigating through it.
2. Picture quality is quite good.

Cons / Notes:
1. No USB input for media viewing.
2. As a PC monitor, colored text is blurry, especially red colored texts.
3. VGA input does not support full HD, make sure you’ll be using HDMI / DVI.
