Sharp Aquos LC42D72U 42-Inch 1080p LCD HTDV Review
Having a lot of research, budgeting and sweating for several months last year, I took one of these from Amazon in October or thereabouts. The only part that sucked was waiting to go to them, even if it lasted only a few weeks. Since then, we loved everything about it. The picture is great, the sound is surprisingly decent for a TV, and the piano black cabinet is beautiful. I'm not an audio or videophile but I'm very demanding and very good at these things because of my trainingLine of work. I work with many high-end displays that I could never afford, but since Aquos I do not feel like I lost something.
I calibrated the image with a DVD disc, twice if it is in its original splendor. I have not touched the settings here and everything looks fantastic. The viewing angles are wide enough so it looks as good from one of the places in our living room, where you would see. We use it mainly for HDTV(Verizon FiOS), but I have a DVD player 1080i and all our movies look much better on this TV, it's almost as if they would look again for the first time. To see the video of 1080p sources out fantastic. The case is not as dusty as I thought it would, and the screen almost never take the dust-free. I can not have a single complaint I could think to me personally on this TV, however, would be if I had a lot of devices that plug, the absence of more HDMI inputsCause for concern.
I noticed that six people have this with the 120 Hz refresh rate "do not know where that came from, because I'm pretty sure this is a display at 60 Hz
